I bought the charge and play battery when I had a One X, then upgraded to the Series X, which I subsequently transfered the rechargeable battery to the Series X controller. I've had this charging problem with both systems/controllers. I'll try what you recommend, the discharging completely this time around.

The controller works just fine plugged in or using AA batteries. But the play and charge kit battery will not charge at all.

16 wrz 2023 · If you have the the xBox One Play & Charge Kit and it is not charging via USB, try this super fast easy and cheap to free fix. I make no promises but every time i tried this, i was able to fix it. So try it out and see if it works.
If you are not sure, test trying to power it on with AAs to see if the controller is powering up. Otherwise you might just have a defective battery.
