Xbox Support suggests a few steps to try when the light on your power supply turns red.
AC adapter orange until Xbox is powered on, then red with red ring. A friend tried fixing the console by reapplying thermal paste, but the problem persisted. There are two different ac adapters I tried though, the one with a black label is the one that worked, but gave the red ring.

23 paź 2010 · The adapter has a red light when we turn the power on at the mains. When it's not connected to the Xbox, it will be orange until we plug it in. Since this happens at the start, it's not an overheating problem.
I have a xbox one ac power adapter and when i plug it into my xbox the red light on it flashes green every 5 seconds, but when it isn’t plugged into the xbox it is just solid red. When its plugged in my xbox does not turn on. See below for more info.
15 wrz 2015 · The light is red when I plug it in (indicating standby) but seems to then surge and blink back and fourth between green and red before going back to solid red.
The powerbrick shows red and makes a the normal turn on sound but nevers turns on Help Me please - Xbox One.
