I ended up using consumer reports through my library after and it rated the one I took back as one of their top choices. The one I took back was essentially barely functional in comparison to the one I kept.
Here's the rub: The top 6 machines on Consumer Reports are LG machines, and LG also is at the top of their brand reliability ratings. But the repair guy said, "whatever you do, don't get an LG. Or a Samsung." (this is just a repair person, by the way. He doesn't sell appliances, just fixes them.) What's a buyer to do? Opinions welcome. Thanks!
