wxPython can be installed through apt-get by calling apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8 or apt-get install python-wxgtk2.6, depending on which version you want. You may have to call this with root permissions.
Just like "Classic" wxPython it wraps the wxWidgets C++ toolkit and provides access to the user interface portions of the wx API, enabling Python applications to have a GUI on Windows, Macs or Unix systems with a native look and feel and requiring very little (if any) platform specific code.
8 lut 2012 · I wanted to install wxPython2.8-2.8.12.1-1.src.rpm on my Centos6 box with the src rpm provided here http://sourceforge.net/projects/wxpython/files/wxPython/2.8.12.1/. I did this as root: rpmbuild --rebuild wxPython2.8-2.8.12.1-1.src.rpm. and in the end I have : running install_egg_info.
So I got wxPython2.8-2.8.9.1-1.src.rpm from the wxPython website and tried to build a rpm from that: rpmbuild --rebuild --define 'pyver 2.6' wxPython2.8-2.8.9.1-1.src.rpm That ended with this error message:
easy installation is a must. In windows and mac there is no problem, but in linux, you need to compile wx2.9. So, I've started to use checkinstall instead of just make install, with the benefit that it creates a .deb package easily installable. This document describes the procedure needed to go from a standard Ubuntu Hoary distribution (as of 2005 February 26) to using wxPython, although a similar procedure should work for any Ubuntu (or Debian) installation.
