In order to disable WSL, one has to go back into Control Panel -> programs-features -> turn on/off Windows features and deselect Windows Subsystem for Linux, and Save. A dialog shows you progress as it uninstalls.
Before uninstalling WSL from your system, you should uninstall all the Linux distributions that you have installed using WSL. This can be done in two steps: Unregister the distribution; Uninstall the application.
