The IAG 6 Speed Synchro package for the 2008-21 STI includes a 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear brass syncronizer set as well as 4th, 5th and 6th gear carbon faced brass baulk rings. The OEM carbon faced baulk rings are known for improved shifting and longevity and are a popular upgrade when rebuilding GR and VA STI 6 Speeds.
The IAG-Spec PPG Straight-Cut 1-4 Synchro Gear Set is designed for weekend racers (and weekday racers for that matter) who prefer the streetability of a synchronized gearbox which is suitable for daily driving.
With synchro straight cut gears, and stock 5th gear, your car will drive as smoothly as stock, but with the characteristic whine of a dog box from 1st to 4th and enhanced power transfer efficiency. Of course the straight cut gears will absorb much more power than the stock helical gears.
