  1. Applications must be complete and received by the department by the deadline to be considered. Interviews (in person or remote) are required for Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental, Health, Quantitative, Social, and Social and Affective Neuroscience Area finalists.

  2. Students are required to obtain a thorough background in research methodology and psychological theory by completing requirements for a major. Majors are offered in the following seven areas of psychology: Behavioral Neuroscience; Clinical; Cognitive; Developmental; Health; Quantitative; and Social Psychology.

  3. English Language Proficiency Requirement. Applicants seeking to attend WPI whose native language it not English must submit official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores. Most programs require a minimum TOEFL score of 84, IELTS score of 6.5, or Duolingo score of 115. The minimum band score for IELTS is 6.5.

  5. Psychology. Students in WPI’s Psychological Science program examine the mind from various viewpoints to understand how people think and behave in different situations. Students learn about and engage in scientific research in classrooms and with faculty mentors in their research laboratories.

  6. Psychology and Psychobiology majors currently in the specialization or admitted to UCLA prior to Fall 2023 are still eligible to pursue the specialization. However, enrollment is not guaranteed in courses required for the specialization.

  7. Students must have completed all of the preparatory coursework with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to be eligible to apply. Note: Students who have at least a 2.9 prep GPA and meet all requirements will be guaranteed admission into the major.
