Unlike RS3, gear requirements are neither linear, nor a foolproof guide on what is "better". Standard metal armour such as bronze ---> rune -> dragon -> barrows armour is objectively better as the defence requirement rises.
I’m using the quest helper plug in on RuneLite sorted by optimal but have been somewhat confused by some of the ordering. For example, I’m about to start The Grand Tree quest and one of the recommended requirements is Fairy Rings but the quest to unlock those is way farther down the list.
