Here is a list of groups currently bidding (seriously) to hold a Worldcon. For more information about Worldcon bids and how the process works, see here. None of the sites listed here have been selected to hold a Worldcon. Bids do not need any sort of “pre-approval” to announce a bid.
27 lut 2024 · Bids for future Worldcons are listed on the Worldcon Bids page. Two bid s qualified for the 2022 Worldcon Site Selection by filing the required documents with CoNZealand: Chicago, Illinois, USA and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
They started bidding in 2010, eight years before the Site Selection election for their target year, and in 2018 they won the right to host the 2020 Worldcon, CoNZealand. The point of bidding is to convince voters around the world that your site is the best site for the Worldcon.
Four locations have responded to the call for Worldcon bid FAQs. Other cities may also be planning bids for future Worldcons and this list is not considered exhaustive.
