I guess the end goal for this scam would be to trick you into thinking you have a job and they could send you a fake W-2, request detailed info for a background check, or even trick you into purchasing something "for the job.".
If the interview was only through chat then it's a scam.... do not deposit the check if you do it will bounce and your bank will close your bank account and you can never open another checking account with them again.
