Often a family's first introduction to baseball/softball, Woburn Little League's Tee Ball Division provides coaching instruction from parent volunteers. Our coaches are responsible for teaching the fundamentals of throwing, catching, batting, fielding, and base running.
Whether pitching from the windup or set/stretch positions, a pitcher may step and throw directly to a base [ (Rules 8.01 (a) (2), 8.01 (b)]. Even though a base may be unoccupied, it is legal for an engaged pitcher to throw to that base to make an appeal [ (Rule 8.05 (d)].
01A.8: Two ADGED adults may coach base runners from the coach’s boxes, provided a ADGED coach remains with the team in the dugout. 01A.9: Except in its last at bat, a Major League team may be credited with no more than seven (7) runs in an inning; Minor League teams may be credited with no more than five (5) runs in an inning.
If there is a runner on the base behind you, then you need to run if the ball is put in play on the ground or reaches the ground (if the ball is hit in the air, then see the “tagging up” rules below)
