Run Elevated Command Prompt: - Click the Start button. - Type: cmd in the Start Search text box. - right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" (alternatively, press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to run it as administrator), and allow elevation request. 2. Type: netsh winsock reset in the shell and hit Enter. 3. Type: netsh int ip reset and hit Enter again.
After a bit of research, I found someone on the Steam forums suggesting resetting winsock as a fix. I tried it and it worked! So if your Steam crashes at startup try this: Run cmd.exe with Administrative privileges. Type "netsh winsock reset" and press enter. Restart computer. Enjoy your now working Steam!
