I haven't used XP for 15 years now (currently gathering parts for the ultimate XP build), but I do remember this case. SP2 felt much more responsive in my P4 2.8GHz 512MB PC. SP3 felt sluggish in comparison. Because of that, I used SP2 in my offline PC, and used SP3 in my online laptop.

It was a big step in terms of security by Microsoft, and I personally think SP3 is a little more buggy/heavier. SP2 in my opinion is the perfect version of XP after SP1, mainly because of the new firewall and security center.

6 paź 2010 · There have been reports online that SP3 improves the speed of XP by about 10 percent over SP2. I haven't seen any performance improvements personally, but then I have only upgraded a single XP SP2 system so far and have no plans to run this configuration in any day-to-day use.
