17 lis 2019 · I managed to activate an XP license key using this link that I got off of a Microsoft support forum. I don't know how long this link will stay active, but as at posting date it still works. UPDATE:
I threw out a Windows XP machine a while ago (the motherboard failed). I kept the hard drive and the XP installation media. Problem is the license key was on a sticker on the machine - doh! The original manufacturer has gone bust (Evesham) and I suspect that Microsoft will be of little help.

Now it is asking me to activate Windows XP. Am I suppose to buy and use a real WinXP key? What is this about a "Windows XP Mode" I'm hearing about that you can enable in VMware to activate it? The availability of Windows XP Mode is equivalent to a free license to Windows XP operating system. My host machine runs Win7.

Best way to retrieve license information. The kid's computer is infested with viruses, and I want to wipe it clean and reinstall XP. I can't find the XP CD and box with the key sticker anymore. I have an installation CD from MSDN but for correctness reasons would like to use the original personal license.
4 cze 2014 · So, by any means necessary I booted to a Windows XP installation similar to Ubuntu Live CD, downloaded ProduKey, opened it and selected a source for ProduKey to look into by pressing F9 and selecting "Load the product keys of external Windows installations from all disks..." and simply pressed ok. 22 sty 2013 · 1. Windows 8/8.1. After a fresh install, the system does not auto activate and when one tries to enter the correct OEM Product Key (extracted from BIOS), it is refused. The trick is to first remove the current Product Key with slmgr /upk, then the OEM key can be entered and activation works flawlessly.
