13 kwi 2016 · Right when I resume my Windows 7 computer from hibernation, it decides to install updates. I let it do that. So when it restarts by itself, the computer does the Windows 7 Starting Windows screen then transitions to a black screen with a cursor.

Try going into safe-mode again, and then change any settings (like resolution, etc.) to compatible settings for the monitor. Maby even try setting it to 800x600. Also, in the "Screen resolution" window, click "Advanced settings". Now go to the "Monitor" tab.
