What I'm using nowadays to play old Football Manager games, and what I'd highly advise you to try is setting up Win XP virtual machine. I put together SafeDiscLoader (https://github.com/nckstwrt/SafeDiscLoader/) which can easily load these latest patches on Windows 10 and 11. Tested on latest versions: FM 2005 5.0.5, FM 2006 6.0.3 + FM 2007 7.0.2 - all working without issue. Tried to download fm 2008 however the download link keep restarting.
the official media creation tool from Microsoft downloads ESDs from those locations listed in the pastebin, and even uses a pretty much identical esd>iso decryptor. There is zero risk downloading an ESD from any of those links
