The European Commission estimates that new EU target of at least 42.5 % renewable energy in energy consumption by 2030 will require installed capacity to grow to over 500 GW by 2030. Although the EU is a global leader in some offshore technologies, the wind sector struggles with many challenges.
28 lut 2024 · Overview. Europe installed 18.3 GW of new wind power capacity in 2023. The EU-27 installed 16.2 GW of this, a record amount but only half of what it should be building to meet its 2030 climate and energy targets. 79% of the new wind capacity built in Europe last year was onshore.
22 cze 2023 · Wind energy is an important asset for the European economy. It has been resilient in the COVID-19 crisis and therefore it can play a significant role in a green economic recovery. But wind creates additional benefits beyond jobs and value to the economy.
1 cze 2023 · This report depicts the 2022 progress towards several competitiveness indicators of the wind energy sector including wind energy installations, contribution of wind energy to the EU GDP, trade balance, jobs or R&I expenditure.
29 sty 2024 · Wind energy will be central to accelerating the roll-out of renewables and the green transition outlined in the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU plan. In 2022, the total installed wind power capacity in the EU reached 204 GW (gigawatts), most of which was onshore (92 %).
24 paź 2023 · To achieve the EU target that requires 42.5% of EU energy to be renewable by 2030, we will need a massive increase in wind installed capacity. This action plan will ensure that wind power continues to be a European success story.
