2 mar 2013 · One great example for pistol loaders is Winchester W231 and Hodgdon HP-38 (the same powder branded differently). I have used this powder for many different cartridges and load levels- it meters great, is super-versatile, and is a great bulk-buy in 8 lb canisters.
Find load data for Winchester 231 propellant by clicking the button "Loads for this Powder". Winchester 231 is a ball powder, one of the most popular handgun propellants in history. It is ideally suited to 38 Special, 45 Auto, and 9mm standard loads.
20 wrz 2003 · 231 is one of the fastest-burning powders, meters well, and can be dirty in some loads. I know NOTHING about what an IPSC .40 needs to work properly and not blow up. However, for quality and accuracy potential in proven loads, 231 is beyond reproach.
24 paź 2009 · I have been checking out loading data for Win 231 for various handgun loads and it looks promising. I want something just a shade cleaner and more consistent than Unique. But, that got me thinking, since 231 is very close to Unique in burning rate, would it make a good powder for moderate (~1350 fps) loads in medium sized rifle cases also.
15 paź 2011 · I've been working up a load using Win 231 and a Hornady 148gr hollow-based wadcutter. Hornady manual shows 2.2 grains min up to 3.5 grains max, but that's still a tiny bit of powder compared to the space in the case. 3.0-3.4 grains seems to be a popular load range for this combination.
Loaded over 4.0 grains of 231, most guns will clock between 950-1,000 FPS for a mild shooting, mid-level, accurate load, depending on barrel length. The MP-Molds 8-cavity 140 grain radiused flat-nose is made for Powder Coating since it’s sans lube grooves.
2 sty 2020 · Looking back over this post I was puzzled by the Winchester load difference, as Hodgdon distributes Winchester and controls their load data. A look at the Hodgdon site resolved the difference. 4.3 grains is maximum for their jacketed Hornady XTP load. 3.7 is the maximum they list for a cast LSWC.
