Don’t learn SPSS. Nobody worth any salt uses it in industry. It’s a waste of your time to learn it. The only reason you’d need to learn it is if you’re doing research into psychology (even then, R is better) or education “research” (where I had to use it).

SPSS's main (and probably only) advantage is the easinesses of use, as all functions can be reached through the GUI. The main disadvantages is a very high price, limited capabilities compared to the majority of other statistical software and a quickly shrinking user base which means less support on forums etc. R is vastly more capable than SPSS.
