  3. Download GameMaker today and start creating your own 2D games with one of the simplest and fastest game engines in the world today. Available for Windows and Mac.

  4. Long story short, GameMaker is bad at helping you write code that runs on demand rather than on frame update. It pushes you towards running everything tied to the games frame rate which is not a habit you want to get into. If you set GameMaker's fps to 60, it will be stuck at 60 fps even if you have a 120hz monitor or a high end gpu.

  5. To download and install GameMaker, you need to navigate to our Download Page, this can either be done directly by going to https://gamemaker.io/en/download or selecting Download in the Navigation Menu at the top.

  6. The version you download from the Download page should be the current Stable version of GameMaker. Here are the main incompatibilities: Game Maker 5.0 is no longer supported on Windows 95. There is no longer an option to show the score in the caption or not (there is now an action for this).
