I have an account and I can download GM but it's a .exe file. It opens on my Mac using unarchiver, which it then asks for a filename encoding option, I selected Western Windows Latin 1. This gives me a folder which contains a .exe for game maker which I can't open.

Get templates within the GameMaker software by: Open the GameMaker app. Click New > Game.
