I really like NakeyJakey and when he said he was inspired by RevRants, I watched all 6 videos he has on YouTube which were very good, and I recently subbed to Game Maker's Toolkit. Are there any good channels that are similar?
Story telling and animation is the fun part you're supposed to bring to it from your own experience playing games and consuming other media, it's not something you can just acquire magically. If you want to improve your story telling I would suggest reading more books.
Right now I'm listening to MatthewMatosis, and I find his commentary enjoyable for design, but not very insightful on technical details. His explanation of Dark Souls has buzzwords like memory optimization and fixed camera angles, and stating that ram is faster than secondary memory which is all well and good.
