I can't make saddlebags for my donkeys/mules. I try right clicking with a chest on my tamed donkey and instead of placing the chest on the donkey it places it on the ground and I mount the donkey. It does this in my survival world and any copy I make in survival and creative mode.

Once saddled, mount the donkey/mule, open your inventory, and equip the chest to the donkey/mule in the armor slot.
2 sty 2013 · I have tamed a two donkeys, and bred a mule with my horse. I have tried to ride the donkey and mule and put the chest in it's slot; but there is no slot. I have put the chest in my hand and right clicked on the rear leg of them, but it just causes me to ride them.
Mules are infertile offspring of horses and donkeys that, when tamed, can be ridden and equipped with chests. Mules do not spawn naturally, but they can spawn through cross-breeding a horse with a donkey. Mules cannot breed with other mules. 20% of mule spawn eggs produce foals.
The chest slot simply isn't there. I can still right click the chest onto the mule/donkey, and use the inventory. But the chest doesn't show up in the inventory screen the way armor does on horses. This means I can't remove the chest from the donkey once I put it on.
