Wholesale Price Index (WPI) measures the average change in the prices of commodities for bulk sale at the level of early stage of transactions. The index basket of the WPI covers commodities falling under the three major groups namely Primary Articles, Fuel and Power and Manufactured products.
The new series of Wholesale Price Index(WPI) with base 2011-12 is effective from April 2017. Data for WPI(2011-12) has however been provided from April 2012 to March 2017 for the purpose of research and analysis only.

For the month of January, 2020 the final Wholesale Price Index for 'All Commodities' (Base: 2011-12=100) stood at 123.4as compared to 122.9 (provisional) and annual rate of inflation based on final index stood at 3.52% as compared to 3.10% (provisional) respectively as reported on 14.02.2020.
