Hound Dog, blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller that is recognized as one of the greatest songs of all time. Originally recorded by Willie Mae (“Big Mama”) Thornton in 1952, it has since been recorded by dozens of artists, including a smash hit version by Elvis Presley in 1956.
