If you finished installing HEN or CFW you can directly go to installing homebrew like multiman, webman, retroarch etc. However to not get banned from PSN you will need either PSNpatch or SEN enabler. These can brick your console if you are on HEN, so only use them on CFW.

they own crackle btw, and Home was originally going to be capable of replacing the XMB. There were going to be trophy rooms, and lobbies for gathering up before launching into games as a group, and then you could choose to go back to Home when leaving a game instead of the XMB.
