Vanilla is definitely fun as far as quality of the game. The only mod I would ever utilize would maybe be graphics overhaul. So yes, vanilla is worth it.
Yes, vanilla Oblivion is worth it. Spent thousands of hours on PS3 back in the day. Though I'd suggest to use some bug fixing mods, because I'd never forget how some quests would get bugged and so on.
I prefer vanilla oblivion over modded Skyrim. The dungeons have depth and the side quests are the best I’ve ever played. It’s worth playing for the dark brotherhood quests alone.
4 wrz 2008 · Vanilla oblivion is a reference to Regular Oblivion WITHOUT mods. Meaning it's "vanilla" or basic. Once you add that first mod, you're no longer playing "vanilla" oblivion. It can also stand for regular Oblivion With it's own content, like SI or Mehrune's Razor.

8 sie 2008 · Vanilla is often used to describe something as being without modification or altered or "the norm". So vanilla Oblivion is the out of the box game with no mods / additions / tweaks. It is even used to describe a form of sex but that's another story.
20 lip 2014 · I highly recommend OBGE Core, OBGE Standalone Effects (CrysisDOF, Volumetric SSAO, Godrays) OBGE Liquid Water (the ONLY water mod to use IMHO) and OBGE Physically Correct Sky (if it will work for you). This combo is an amazing aesthetic upgrade even with just vanilla textures.
