Banjarbaru is the capital city of South Kalimantan, one of the provinces in Indonesia. It is located 35 km (22 mi) southeast of Banjarmasin, the largest city of the province.
The provincial capital was Banjarmasin until 15 February 2022 when it was legally moved 35 kms southeast to Banjarbaru. [1][7] The population of South Kalimantan was recorded at just over 3.625 million people at the 2010 Census, [8] and at 4.07 million at the 2020 Census. [9]
