Rhinosinusitis is defined as inflammation of the nose and the paranasal sinuses characterized by clinical symptoms of either nasal obstruction or nasal discharge at times accompanied by facial pain or loss of smell. Endoscopic findings may reveal nasal polyposis or mucopurulent discharge or mucosal obstruction of the meatus.
Because of its deep-seated anatomy, this sinus does not usually present with nasal symptoms such as nasal obstruction or rhinorrhea. The most common symptom is headache and its prevalence ranges from 28% in tumor lesions to 98% in inflammatory lesions [ 2 ].
