Hydrology is the science that explores water’s journey, from precipitation to its various forms – rivers, lakes, groundwater, and even in the atmosphere. It’s an interdisciplinary field, combining elements of geology, meteorology, chemistry, and physics to unravel the mysteries of Earth’s water cycle.
Hydrology (from Ancient Greek ὕδωρ (húdōr) 'water' and -λογία 'study of') is the scientific study of the movement, distribution, and management of water on Earth and other planets, including the water cycle, water resources, and drainage basin sustainability.
Hydrologic sciences, the fields of study concerned with the waters of Earth. Included are the sciences of hydrology, oceanography, limnology, and glaciology. In its widest sense, hydrology encompasses the study of the occurrence, movement, and physical and chemical characteristics of water in all.
Hydrology, scientific discipline concerned with the waters of the Earth, including their occurrence, distribution, and circulation via the hydrologic cycle and interactions with living things. It also deals with the chemical and physical properties of water in all its phases.
In evaporation energy from the Sun changes liquid water into gaseous form, transporting it as a vapor into the atmosphere. Thus, the water is returned to the air, where it condenses and resumes the cycle we have described.
19 paź 2023 · Hydrologists rely on their understanding of how water interacts with its environment, including how it moves from the Earth’s surface, to the atmosphere, and then back to Earth. This never-ending movement is called the hydrologic cycle, or the water cycle.
