Start by reading God’s promises to Abram in Genesis 12:1-4 & 7. Ask, “How old was Abram when God announced his promises (75)? What were God’s promises (to make Abram into a great nation, to make his name great, to bless him, and to give him land)?” Then read Genesis 17:1-8 to learn why God
What were the 3 parts of God’s promise to Abraham? God was sending him to a new place, to make a new people, to be a blessing to all people. What did Abraham do? He listened to God’s Word and did what God said. Did the promise happen right away? What was the problem? No – they didn’t have any children. How many children did God promise?
Ask children to turn in their Bibles to Genesis Chapter 15 to read the story of God’s promise and covenant to Abram. Read Genesis 15:1‐6. Then have students turn to Romans 4:16, 23‐24 and read that aloud. Discussion Questions: What did God promise Abram in verse 1? I am your shield and very great reward. God would protect Abram!
