We investigate the question of how agreement or consensus on basic scientific concepts can be measured. Our approach to the problem is based on a state-of-the-art cognitive psychometric technique, implemented in the theoretical framework of cultural consensus theory.
A consensus model that considers professional norms and ethical principles, as well as clients’ and clinicians’ cultural heritages and the influence of diverse values, can provide a framework to address ethical questions and lead to confident resolutions and good professional practices.
