Breastfeeding is the normal way of providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Virtually, all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large.

30 maj 2024 · Breast milk is the optimal source of nutrition for virtually all babies. It meets essentially all of the nutritional needs of full-term babies until approximately six months of age, when solid foods are usually added to the diet. Breast milk also has important health benefits for premature babies.
Breastfeeding alone can provide all the food and water your baby needs for the first six months of their lives. Babies do not need any food or drink except breast milk, not even water, until they are six months old. This is called exclusive breastfeeding.
