20 paź 2023 · We undertook an updated systematic review including a primary search for studies in which individuals received progesterone to reverse the effects of mifepristone, and a secondary search for studies in which individuals received mifepristone alone. We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL and grey literature up to December 2022.
We conducted two systematic searches: one for studies of abortion reversal with progesterone (main search), and another for studies documenting ongoing pregnancy rates after mifepristone alone (secondary search). We performed the searches in December 2021, then again in December 2022.

Results: Intramuscular progesterone and high dose oral progesterone were the most effective with reversal rates of 64% (P < 0.001) and 68% (P < 0.001), respectively. There was no apparent increased risk of birth defects.
