Florida Keys Snorkeling Hen and Chickens patch reef is well worth doing, and is one of the better spots in the Keys. Like Cheeca Rocks, this reef is closer to shore, and is a short boat ride from Islamorada, compared to going all the way out to the barrier reef edge.

You don’t have to work hard to spot Key West chickens — you hear them crowing and see them strutting everywhere.
Hen and Chickens Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA) is located in the middle of Hawk Channel just off of Plantation Key. Similar to Cheeca Rocks SPA, Hen and Chickens is located closer to shore with easy access from Islamorada.
