In music, a trope is adding another section, or trope to a plainchant or section of plainchant, thus making it appropriate to a particular occasion or festival. From the 9th century onward, trope refers to additions of new music to pre-existing chants in use in the Western Christian Church .
Strophic form is most commonly seen in popular music, folk music, or music that is verse based. This is because the material is repeated so much. Each of those A’s represents a short verse, normally 8 to 16 measures long.
