Calculating the P-R interval is essential for assessing heart health and diagnosing potential cardiac conditions. This interval, measured in milliseconds, is critical for understanding the electrical conduction from the atria to the ventricles.
To calculate the P-R interval, multiply the number of small squares measured in step 5 by 0.04 seconds. For example, if you measured eight small squares from the start of the P wave to the onset of the QRS complex, your P-R interval would be: 8 x 0.04 seconds = 0.32 seconds.
In a paper by Feldman & Cousins (arXiV:physics/9711021 v2) these issues are explored in some detail, and a solution is proposed. The result is what is known as a Feldman-Cousins confidence interval, which we'll now examine.
