In statistics, the mid-range or mid-extreme is a measure of central tendency of a sample defined as the arithmetic mean of the maximum and minimum values of the data set: [1] M = max x + min x 2 . {\displaystyle M={\frac {\max x+\min x}{2}}.}
The mid-range is a type of mean, while the interquartile range is talking about a chunk of data in the middle of a data set. For example, when the weather service reports that a “ mean daily temperature” is 77 degrees, they are talking about the mid-range.
The midrange is the mean of the lowest and highest numbers to appear in a range of values. To determine the midrange value in a given data set, simply add the smallest and greatest values together and divide the result by two.
29 lip 2023 · The midrange of the data set is simply the value between the biggest value and the lowest value. In order to find the midrange of the data set the value is then divided by 2 after summing the lowest value present in the data set with the highest value present in the data set.
30 mar 2024 · The midrange is the average of the range of a set of numbers, or the sum of the highest and lowest numbers divided by two. This quick equation can help you estimate the middle point of a set of numbers, similar to the mean or median.
Mode, median and mean are three types of average. Find out how to calculate them and the range of numbers in this KS2 Primary Maths guide.
