5 lis 2018 · This chapter provides a critical look at the literature surrounding Distance Education and targets Transactional Distance Theory. It will examine in detail the three components: structure, interaction (or dialogue) and autonomy.
Distance education includes teaching and learning in the form of (a) mediated presentation of subject matter (one-way traffic) and (b) mediated interaction between students and tutors (two-way traffic).
Moore’s Theory of Transactional Distance Michael G. Moore, in his Theory of Transactional Distance, posits that in distance learning scenarios, separation between the teacher and stu-dents can “lead to communication gaps, a psychological space of potential misunderstandings between the behaviors of instructors and those of the
distance learning, transactional distance theory (TDT) is relevant to understand ways to reduce the distance between learners and educators for maximum effectiveness of distance learning. Our study applies TDT to review distance learning from a supply perspective and as a tool to ensure the improved quality of distance learning.
