Rare 1932 Martin C-1 Round Sound Hole Archtop Guitar, Excellent Condition, plays like Butter !
One of C. F. Martin & Co.'s more unusual but often overlooked guitars, the f-hole C-2 represents the company's noble but ultimately doomed attempts to challenge Gibson and Epiphone for the swing-era archtop market.
This remarkable instrument is one of only 104 round hole C-2 archtops from the first model year, and must certainly be among the finest of surviving examples today. The gently arched back and sides are constructed of exceptionally attractive bookmatched quartersawn Brazilian rosewood, of a hue and grain structure virtually unobtainable today.
1 wrz 2024 · This is a 1931 Martin C-2 archtop, with the following specs: - 000-sized Brazilian Rosewood back and sides - Carved spruce top - Ebony fingerboard - Vertical CF Martin logo (the first model to ever feature this)
28 lis 2013 · The Martin is a unobtrusive way to use an archtop in band situations. It doesn't scream, "I'm an archtop," soundwise. I've used other arcthops for this purpose, and don't find their sound full enough for the times I have to fingerpick tunes sole.
1937 Martin C-2 (S/N 681XX) converted to a flat top style 000 by Steve Kovacik in 2011. Steve is a noted luthier and authorized Martin repair professional. Guitar is in MINT condition and the workmanship is flawless.
This 1932 Martin C2 arrived at Folkway in 2012 as a round-hole archtop, but in a state of disrepair that made it a perfect candidate for an OM conversion. The top was badly damaged, the instrument very well played, and the headstock had had a crack repair.
