7 lip 2023 · When traditionally prepared in Mexico, chalupas are often made of masa dough and molded into a slight cup shape, then deep fried, hence the boat naming. Chalupas are much more taco-shaped in the States and have that classic fold.
This recipe shows how they make them in the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico. The tortillas are spread with fried beans and plantain and topped with shredded pork, tomato sauce, habanero chili, and grated cheese. Chopped cooked beets and carrots and shredded lettuce are used for garnish.
