11 kwi 2022 · After more than a decade of service after Kennedy's assassination, the Lincoln Continental presidential limousine was finally retired in 1977. It was sent to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation located in Dearborn, Michigan, and it is displayed together with other cars built by the Ford Motor Company (via The Henry Ford Museum).
21 cze 2019 · President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in this car on November 22, 1963. The midnight blue, un-armored convertible was rebuilt with a permanent roof, titanium armor plating, and more somber black paint. The limousine returned to the White House and remained in service until 1977.
26 wrz 2022 · The car was placed in the Henry Ford Museum with approximately 100 other important vehicles. Its condition has been preserved the way it left the White House in 1974. It is still on display almost 50 years later at the Museum located in Dearborn, Michigan.
It returned to Ford Motor Company, which in turn donated it to The Henry Ford in 1978. The limousine quickly became one of the most important pieces in the museum’s collection. Decades after the assassination, the car has lost none of its power as an icon of American change.
