Magnets can an do harm ANY magnetic media....tapes (audio & video), minidiscs. They WILL also harm hard drives, static memory (cell phones, Ipods). I would put your static devices somewhere away from any magnetic fields such as speakes as well.

But generally if you had a magnet in close enough proximity to affect the monitor, you’d move it before it could cause permanent damage because the display would be annoying.
14 maj 2012 · Magnets affect electrons only when they are moving. The force on an electron in a magnetic field is proportional to its speed. If it is stationary, the force is zero. In LCD screens there are no moving electrons, except when the image changes, so there cannot be any effect with a steady display.
