Pantherophis ramspotti, the western fox snake is a nonvenomous snake species found in the Central United States, west of the Mississippi River. The snake is usually light-brown or yellowish with dark brown or black blotches. This species was proposed only in 2011.
Western Fox Snakes usually range between 3 to 5 feet in length. The longest Western Fox Snake recorded is 179 cm. Males are generally larger than female snakes. They feature blotches in their bodies, with light brown to dark blotches. Their heads vary from reddish to brown color.
