I am interested in both anecdotes about Al talking to the original artist while getting permission as well as what they've said since they heard the parody.
I remember Al telling the story on his website as he was back-and-forth emailing a rep for Gaga that was claiming to be her and that he ended a family vacation early to record it when the rep insisted on an actual recording of it as opposed to just seeing the lyrics.
