13 sty 2017 · I would love to hear recommendations for black wax resist. I want to use it, but I tried Aftosa's and half of it flaked off after glaze firing. It would have been better if it had ALL flaked off.
I made a piece, covered it in colored slip, painted on a design with wax resist, and then covered it in another color of slip. The thing is, I know I made countless mistakes in the wax resist application and I'm overwhelmed with worry that it's going to come out hideous.

10 lip 2019 · Pros: Wax was easy to brush, dip, pour, spray, pipe (had to use tiny tips on a squeeze bottle to avoid too much wax running), easy to wipe off the pot, resisted glazes beautifully, and is easy to spot. We added food coloring to our wax resist to create a more noticeable mark on all clay bodies.
31 sty 2020 · Wax resist is a great tool for a ceramics studio. It takes some clean up, should be used only as needed, and my recommendation is to use a premium wax resist such as the Amaco green wax resist. To apply, try using chip brushes or other simple, cheap brushes.

A sponge that has grog trapped in it from throwing or cleaning surfaces quickly wears down wax, which is a common complaint about wax resist. Thin wax emulsions for easier brush ability or dipping. If you’re using an oil-based wax, allow for a longer drying time, up to 30 minutes.
