Past, Present & Future. A Brief History of the Library. (Excerpted from the West Des Moines Library’s Grand Opening program, June, 1996.) Modest Beginnings, 1934-1942. Valley Junction was founded more than a hundred years ago, but the community did not have library service until 1934.
Longfellow Middle School is located on North Avenue, just across the street from City Hall and the Wauwatosa Public Library. Our all-brick, two-story building was built in 1955 and it contains two gymnasiums, two auditoriums/theaters, a swimming pool and a weight room.
