Lake Jericho is a 137 acre lake located in Henry County, Kentucky and is operated by The Little Kentucky River Watershed Conservancy District. It opened for business on July 25, 1969. A daily admission fee is charged to anyone on the property.
The Lower Cumberland watershed (AKA Lake Barkley watershed) is the most downstream watershed of the Cumberland River basin. It is home to the Cumberland River basin’s outlet, where water from 18,000 square miles of basin land and 22,000 miles of basin streams and rivers empty into the Ohio River.
The watershed implementation plan identifies 57 best management practices including ten for bacteria impacts, six related to trash, seven related to mining impacts, 21 related to education and outreach, and 13 related to habitat improvement and erosion controls.
From a hill in southern Magoffin County 1,600 feet above sea level, the Licking River runs northwest down to the Ohio River at 448 feet above sea level. The map to the left highlights the Kentucky Division of Water's priority watershed areas in the Licking River basin.
