26 wrz 2019 · In Ethiopia today, more than 97 million people do not practice proper sanitation. Without safe, enclosed bathrooms, families in very remote villages have no choice but to go outside, which leads to water contamination and a significant impact on the health of the community.
25 cze 2021 · Nearly 25% (27 million) of Ethiopia’s population lives in areas of high water stress, threatening the country’s Sustainable Development Goal to achieve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) by 2030. Six of the 10 regional capitals are located in either high or extremely high water stress areas.
In Ethiopia, water resources such as the Legedadi water supply, Geffersa water supply, Dire water supply and Sibilu water reservoirs are highly contaminated with nitrate, phosphate and ammonia due to anthropogenic activities.
Improved water sources include piped water, boreholes or tubewells, protected dug wells, protected springs, and packaged or delivered water. Ethiopia clean water access for 2022 was 13.24% , a 0.36% increase from 2021.
