If you are coming from Madison Street, you can take route 11, get off at Lake Washington Boulevard E, and walk north into the Arboretum. Several buses coming from the east side stop at the end of SR-520. Use Metro’s Trip Planner to get here.

Washington Park is a public park in Seattle, Washington, United States, most of which is taken up by the Washington Park Arboretum, a joint project of the University of Washington, the Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the nonprofit Arboretum Foundation.
Large park, over 200 acres, free and open dawn to dusk. We got a bus to the park, about half an hour from city. This drops you and the bottom of the park. Easy walking paths, most wide. A map at this point would be useful, as if you start here, the visitor centre isn’t until you are almost half way round which wasn’t much help.
